Efficiency of Vierendeel Girder, Post-tensioned Girders and Steel Beams for Long Cantilevers in Buildings

Cantilevers are a part of our life, they everywhere: bridg–es, building’s balconies, traffic signs, car parking shades even the aircraft’s wings. The long cantilevers buildings always present as big challenge to structural engineers in their practice life. behavior these depends on several factors, such rigidity slab, columns or walls, span continuity... etc. But real dilemma lies economical choice. This paper focused cantilever’s analysis according used structural. Moreover, it shows comparison between three system choices: Vierendeel Girder, Post - Tensioned Girders and Steel Composite Beam graph. objective this is give guideline choose optimum building factors mentioned earlier. At end, illustrated girder most efficient for cantilevers. Accordingly, recommendations result that up 4.0 m cantilever length steel beams will be enough, more than less equal 6.0 post-tension recommended, we should use girder.
